 The ski region Dachstein-West offers a 140 kilometer long ski slopes with different ability levels, which are perfectly prepared and artificially snow-covered – a shuttle bus every fifteen minutes, latest ski-lifts and magnificent views of the unique glacier world included!

On the Karkogel and the Sonnleiten – the cable railways of Abtenau offer all ski lovers a very pleasant winter enjoyment. This is the place for beginners or people re-entering the ski world.

The Postalm – our insider tip for skiers – can be reached easily with a free ski bus, which drives over the impressive panoramic street on the biggest alpine plateau of Austria. Numerous slopes for beginners invite you to ski, especially in the late winter all people hungry for the sun will find what they desire.

A variety of excellent, always perfectly prepared cross-country skiing trails lure cross-country skiers every year to Abtenau. Whether skating, classical or floodlight: The region of Lammertal waits with 100 cross-country skiing trail kilometers for those, appreciating them.

Snowshoeing in the middle of the unaffected nature, away from the cleaned winter hiking trails, is an impressive experience for the whole family. True to the motto „strength lies in peace“  you have the chance to discover the wonderful beauties, which lie along the foothpath step by step. Our advice: our Hotel offers a guided snowshoeing hike in our enchanting setting once a week.  

During the day and at night, the bobsleigh on the Kargoel sets the tone. With the gondola lift you may reach directly the top of the approximately three kilometer long bobsleigh track. Our advice: directly at the bottom station you have the possibility to rent cheap bobsleighs. Numerous huts or bars directly at the bottom or top station ensure a comfortable rest or a fun après-ski experience, just the way you like it.
